Specialisation
Translation, editing and writing require both language skills and a good understanding of the subject matter. Translators, editors and writers are primarily language experts with an appropriate linguistic background. Fluency in a foreign language without extensive language training is insufficient to achieve high-level performance as a translator, editor, or medical writer. In addition to linguistic expertise subject matter knowledge and understanding are imperative for producing both linguistically correct and scientifically accurate texts. Specialisation is therefore required to acquire and maintain the appropriate knowledge. For this reason I focus on selected fields which are listed below:
- Clinical medicine including in particular:
- Oncology
- Haematology
- Immunology
- Cardiology & cardiovascular disorders
- Pharmaceuticals
- Pharmacology
- Clinical research & medical statistics
- Physiology
- Psychology
- Health care
- Life sciences
- Veterinary medicine
- Hippology
- Medical devices
- Medical marketing
